Cold Mountain

This family lakehouse was reimagined to honor the late matriarch while refreshing the space for the next generation. Originally a 1970s-style cabin with vintage furnishings, the home was transformed to open up the main living spaces and highlight stunning lake views by relocating the central fireplace. The redesign preserved the essence of the homeowner's mother’s beloved haven while updating it to accommodate 12 guests—four more than before—within the existing footprint. Sentimental furniture and accessories were thoughtfully incorporated, balancing nostalgia with modern functionality. The result is a welcoming retreat that still feels like "Grandma’s house," updated for a vibrant, multigenerational family.
